Turkey Trot Registrants,


We are sad to announce that we are no longer hosting the Turkey Trot as an in-person race next week. On November 16, Governor Reynolds signed a proclamation which bans this type of event.  The proclamation can be found on the Governor’s website: HERE


Because of this we are moving to a virtual format for the event, but also giving you options a registrant:

  1. Virtual Option: We encourage everyone to take advantage of the virtual option which will allow us to use the funds raised for our two mission partners: All Kids Can Orange City Area and Trinity Youth Missions.  To participate in the virtual option there is nothing you need to do differently. Here are the details:

    1. We will still have packets with a Turkey Trot gaiter, bib, and sponsor give away items that can be picked up at Trinity from 4:15-6:15 Wednesday Nov. 25 and Thursday Nov 26 from 6:30-8am.

    2. Run a 5k between November 19-26. We will have the start and finish lines marked on the regular course on Thanksgiving morning if you choose to run the regular course that day.

    3. Email your time to octurkeytrot@gmail.com by noon on November 26 to be included in the results. 

  2. Defer to 2021: If you would like to defer please email us at octurkeytrot@gmail.com that you would like to defer your entry.

    1. Please note that if you are a sponsor entry this depends if the sponsor chose to continue sponsorship this year or defer the sponsorship to 2021.

  3. Refund: Even though this is a fundraiser, we understand that money was spent on a race experience and some will want a refund. If this is your situation, please email us at octurkeytrot@gmail.com to inform us. Our registration system allows us to refund, but we are not sure how long it takes to process. If you request a refund and haven’t received it after a week, please contact us.


Thank you to all who registered for being understanding. We had hoped we could pull off an in-person race, but feel our hands are tied at this point. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.

  • NO t-shirt - due to the uncertainty of registration numbers with Covid we opted to use a print on demand option for shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. We set up a TeeSpring storefront for you to use to order multiple styles and colors. They are being sold with no profit for the race. Visit the site at Click Here to purchase shirts.

  • Custom race bib

  • Customized running buff/gaiter​

  • Sponsor goodie bag - we've encouraged our sponsors to include items in the packet

  • Results will be posted early afternoon on November 26 on this website and on our Facebook page.

Virtual 5k Instructions

  • Run a 5k between November 19 and November 26 at 11am. 

  • You may choose any course you prefer

  • Submit your results to octurkeytrot@gmail.com by noon on November 26 (Thanksgiving Day)

  • Results will be posted as a separate category with the race results

Wednesday Evening, November 25 

  • 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. – Pre-Registration and packet pick up in Trinity’s lobby.

    • Masks required and please observe social distancing in the building. ​

    • Curbside pickup will be available, details to come

  • 6:30 p.m. – Thanksgiving Worship at Trinity


Thursday, November 26 – THANKSGIVING DAY

  • 6:30 – 8:00 a.m. – Race Day Registration and Packet pick up.

    • If possible this will be outdoors.​

    • If we are unable to do packet pick-up outdoors, then masks will be required for indoor packet pick-up 

  • Results will be posted later in the day on our website and Facebook page

Orange City Turkey Trot’s purpose is to mark the Thanksgiving Holiday with joyful community through a 5K fun run / walk.

While we offer a true 5K course and keep runner times, the emphasis is on a fun experience for all ages that will raise awareness and resources for mission.  The 2020 ministry partners are All Kids Can Orange City and Trinity Youth Missions.


The 2019 mission partners were My Choice Middle School Ministry and Trinity Youth Missions.  With the help of the runners, walkers and especially our sponsors we were able to raise $4600 to split between the ministries.

The 2018 mission partners are Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County and Trinity Youth Missions. Founded with the goal of helping fund Sack Pack programs in Sioux County and hopes of growing to help assist food pantries through the country, Hunger Free Kids of Sioux County has made significant strides in helping our area community.  The race raised nearly $5000 to split between our two ministry partners.


The 2017 missions were Bethany Christian Services of Orange City and Trinity Youth Missions. Also in 2017, we partnered with local businesses as sponsors in the hopes to raise more funds for our mission partners.


The 2015 mission partner was ATLAS of Orange City. The race was cancelled the morning of due to ice, but nearly $1000 was raised that year.


In 2014, the Bride was the mission partner with 119 participants and over $1,500 was raised!


The 2013 focus was the Orange City Food Pantry.  Thanks to the 168 participants, $2,000 was raised to alleviate hunger in our community.
