In a number of communities around the country, Thanksgiving Day 5K fun runs are taking off. So, some of us thought, “Why not in OC?” We could do a fun run before many of the local churches hold Thanksgiving Worship, and create a fun family experience that unites us together to support a common mission. Trinity and Living Water already join forces for a Wednesday evening Thanksgiving Eve worship service and community meal on Thanksgiving. The original Thanksgiving was about different groups of people rejoicing together. So, what could be better than starting the morning with friends and family in the great outdoors of the OC?
Orange City Turkey Trot’s purpose is to mark the Thanksgiving Holiday with joyful community through a 5K fun run / walk. While we will offer a true 5K course and will record runner times, the emphasis is on a fun experience for all ages that will raise awareness and resources for mission. The 2013 focus is the Orange City Food Pantry. The event is hosted by Trinity Reformed Church with help from Living Water Community Church and other Orange City Residents.
